These pieces are pretty simple and not totally wild, but believe it or not these are a lot more eccentric that my current wardrobe. Yes, read it and weep. For me.

I'm really really into layers, not only because it keeps me warm but because I like the look of colors complementing each other. This dress is deceivingly simplistic, but the layered-factor makes it very different, and not something you can normally find at any store. I love it! It's from Fluxus, and this new and upcoming brand is all about the simple but not boring. The pieces give you a chance to wear the clothes in your own way, and won't let the clothes wear you. I love it!
I've always destroyed, holey denim. I have a pair of very infamous jeans, whose story is nothing short of epic. These jeans started out brand new -- very tight -- with no holes whatsoever. However, as time wore on, I wore out the jeans and all of a sudden holes started appearing everywhere, and I mean everywhere. There were signs of chafing from the top of the thigh to the knees, and two huge ripped holes on both knees. And to put the cherry on top, there was a rip right below the right butt cheek pocket...to put it short, they were FABULOUS! I didn't care what everyone else thought...I loved them, and according to my Italian friend, Violetta, the rip-right-below-ass-cheek look was totally "in" in Italia. So hmm.
Anyway, the Skinny Slouch from current/elliot is a bit tooo high-waisted, but they are soo coolly and nonchalantly destroyed. Not everyone can ruin a pair of jeans as successfully as I did, and these current/elliot jeans make the tears and stains as natural as possible...and let's face it, who wants to admit that they bought their jeans ruined? Even if you are, don't make your poseur facade obvious!
*little fact - My sister used to work at Abercrombie & Fitch, and they actually have a really great line of destroyed denim...and she told me that her manager told her that A&F actually send jeans to Mexico, for the factory workers to destroy them! Sure you could use machines, but the authenticity would be lost!
I'm soo glad the whole star-theme was made popular this season (hats off to Chanel and Yves Saint Laurent) because honestly, stars are my favorite geometric shape. Aside from the heart, but is heart even considered a geometric shape!?! I don't know I never was good at math. But yes ever since Chanel and YSL debuted their star-studded Spring '08 runway collections, stars have been the "it" factor. I've seen H&M hop on the starboard, and I'm so glad that French Connection of the United Kingdom came out with their own star piece! French Connection (not FCUK. Apparently, they're trying to reform their bad-boy image.) has alwaaays been one of my faaavorite stores. It's huge in Hong Kong, and for some reason it hasn't made quite a splash in the States...whatever the reason, USA really needs to embrace French Connection, especially now that they've made a top worthy of a rousing chorus of the Star-Spangled Banner!
Again, it's simple, but the stars really spruces up a classic wifebeater.

I was walking around today and I happened to walk into the Steve Madden shoe store..and lo and behold, there it was. The ugliest creature ever invented in the fashion world, now made accessible and affordable to the zillions.
Yes, the Lego shoe. From the moment I saw the original Balenciaga shoes in the Elle issue (I believe Sarah Jessica Parker was on the cover?), I never understood them. How could anyone think these are fashionable!?! I understand that in this era we're all about reinvention and the "avant-garde" or whatever, but there's a thin line between outrageously mind-bogglingly but effortlessly cool (like the Marc Jacobs horizontal heel) and just the plain old UGLY, and that thin line comes in the form of a ridiculous and fruity pair of shoes that might be hazardous to children three years or younger.
Maybe in fashion magazines, it might be acceptable...I mean, since when have outfits in Elle and Vogue been practical? But for Steve Madden to make a damned good replica of the horrid invention, and make it available to the masses!?! God. If I see even one stray cube of Lego on the streets, I will actually jump in a well and scream.
This was fun! Until next tiiimee.
